Volunteer in Summer 2015… All Year Long

Meals-On-Wheels-NWI-New-LogoMeals on Wheels offers volunteer opportunities delivering meals in your own community Monday through Friday. Why not join us for our August orientation/training on Tuesday, August 11, at 10:00am? There is nothing more rewarding than knowing you are making a difference in someone’s life. We are currently recruiting drivers/delivery volunteers in all of Lake County, but have a real need in the Miller and Highland communities. If unable to attend Tuesday another session is scheduled for Thursday, August 20th at 1:00 p.m. You could help one of your neighbors stay in their own homes by volunteering to help deliver meals. Each day, volunteers assist in the delivery of more than 1,200 meals throughout Lake County. According to Joan Vith, Volunteer Manager, “volunteers are our greatest resource. We are recruiting new volunteers in Miller and Highland. We need new volunteers to help replace those who are retiring or moving in various communities.”

Interested candidates are invited to attend Volunteer Orientation/Training at the Meals on Wheels Community Room, 8446 Virginia Street in Merrillville. The session lasts a little more than an hour. Applicants will have an opportunity to tour the facility and ask questions about Meals on Wheels and the different volunteer opportunities we have available.
