Porter-New-Hospital-Coming-SoonIn observance of National Donate Life Month this April, Porter Health Care System will conduct a flag-raising ceremony on the front lawn of Porter Regional Hospital at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 15. During the ceremony, Porter’s CEO Steve Lunn will read the Donate Life Proclamation and encourage everyone to act now to become an organ, eye or tissue donor to provide hope today for those in need.

“More people than ever are awaiting a life-saving organ,” said Porter’s Donor Council Chair Georgia Ramey, RN. “Porter follows a collaborative model to institute best practices for donation and transplantation, so we can help more people and families in need.”

According to Donate Life America, there are more than 120,000 Americans and more than 1,500 Hoosiers who are currently waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. The month-long celebration honors the generosity of organ, eye and tissue donors and their families and commemorates all transplant recipients in the United States.
