Public Service Announcement on Behalf of the City of Hammond

cityofhammondTomorrow, January 7, 2014, Hammond City Government offices will return to normal business following the severe weather event of this past weekend. All Hammond employees are asked to report to work at their normal start times at their normal locations.

Hammond's trash and recycling pickup routes will resume tomorrow morning as well, however routes will be delayed by one day all week, due to the fact that we missed Monday's normal pickup. We will collect Friday's (1-10-2014) trash and recycling on Saturday (1-11-2014), returning to our normal routine Monday of next week.

At this moment, Hammond streets are safe and passable. If you have problems with drifting snow, or worsening road conditions, call Hammond's non-emergency police number at (219) 853-6490. You could also call the Department of Public Works at (219) 853-6431, or you could call the Mayor's office at 853-6301.

The City of Hammond would like to thank all of it's hard working employees, many of whom worked all through the weekend battling the snowstorm and arctic winds. In particular, many thanks go out to Hammond's Department of Public Works employees for keeping our streets safe during a heavy snow event. And many thanks as well goes out to Hammond's Police Officers and Firemen who worked through the storm helping residents in need during a difficult time. Great job to all!
