Junior Engineering
A hands-on learning and building program! Classes meet Tuesdays for four-weeks from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. beginning October 8. You will work in pairs to build and modify machines through basic engineering skills using LEGO kits. You will build a race car, windmill, merry-go-round, levers, and even a crane! Then, take home your very own pullback car consisting of 92 pieces with working gears! First- through third-grade. Meets at Community Park Social Center (Munster). Know the 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's
This introductory program provides attendees with an understanding of the difference between age-related memory loss and Alzheimer's and what to do if they or someone they know has signs of the disease. Attendees will view video footage of real people who are living with the early stages of dementia and their families addressing fears and myths associated with Alzheimer's disease. Taught by Louise Thompson of the Alzheimer's Association. Community Park Social Center (Munster). 9/25, 10-11 am. Snacks and coffee will be served. Pre-registration is required, $5 per person. Project WET (Water Education for Teachers)
A water-focused conservation education program for educators and parents, Project WET (Water Education for Teachers) provides the materials and insight needed to teach youth about all things water. Topics include physical and chemical properties of water, the water cycle, water in life systems, water in earth systems, water as a resource, managing water resources, and water in social and cultural constructs. Participants will go home with a guide book that includes 64 interactive lessons. Professional growth points are also available to participants. National Visit A Park Day
Friday, October 4, is National Visit a Park Day! Take a walk, swing on the playground, go for a jog, have a picnic, toss in a fishing line, ride a bicycle. Whatever you do, just get out and play!

Storybook Trail
Travel the trail through Bieker Woods while you read an enchanting storybook! End your voyage with a treat and take-home activity! October's book will be "Owl Moon" by Jane Yolen.
