City of Whiting’s 2014 Veterans Day Program

WhitingLogoJoin the City of Whiting on Tuesday, November 11th, 2014 as we follow tradition of our annual Veterans Day Program to honor those who served our country. A march will begin at 10:55 a.m. from Post 80 located at 2003 Indianapolis Boulevard, and proceed to 119th Street and Oliver Street in Downtown Whiting for a formal ceremony.

Post 80 Color Guard will lead the march of participants with accompanied music by the Whiting High School Band. The ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. at 119th Street and Oliver Street, consisting of post colors, playing of the National Anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, and invocation by our chaplain. Speakers will include Mayor Joseph M. Stahura on behalf of the City of Whiting, Commander Jesse Morando of VFW Post 2724, and Exalted Ruler Helen Chapman of Elks Lodge 1273. In closing, Commander Bill Palmer will deliver a Veterans Day message as well as introduce three salutes.

The City of Whiting would like to thank in advance all of the participants and City personnel who have made it possible to continue our annual Veterans Day Program. We are pleased to give everyone in the community this chance to pay respects to those who bravely fought for our country, and hope that you will take the time to attend. Following the formal ceremony, we welcome you to join us at Post 80 for a spaghetti dinner from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Legionnaires of Post 80 will honor veterans with a free dinner. Price is $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children.
