North Township Trustee Frank Mrvan, together with NIPSCO and South Shore Clean Cities representatives, are inviting region electric vehicle (EV) drivers and enthusiasts to celebrate the unveiling of Wicker Memorial Park’s first EV charging station on Thursday, June 26.
This marks the first installation of a public charging station supported by NIPSCO’s IN-Charge Around Town Program. The utility launched the program earlier this year to help make alternative fuels more accessible to region drivers.
Four charging station ports are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The Park is offering free charging during the busy summer months.
The celebration coincides with the Run for Freedom 5K Fun Run and Walk. NIPSCO’s electric vehicle will serve as official pace car for the race. Proceeds from the run will benefit the American Cancer Society. For more information and to register, visit www.WickerMemorialPark.com.
About NIPSCO’s IN-Charge Around Town Program
The NIPSCO IN-Charge Around Town Electric Vehicle Program aims to make it easier and more affordable for businesses and organizations to install alternative fuel infrastructure. Launched in February, the program offers incentives to help with the up-front costs of public charging stations for electric vehicles, in addition to installation costs and software subscriptions.
