Indiana State Police Crime Scene Investigator Promoted to First Sergeant

Indiana-State-Police-logoThis week, Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter promoted Sergeant Scott Gilbert to the rank of First Sergeant to serve as the Field Support North Region Supervisor in the Laboratory Division of the Indiana State Police.

First Sergeant Gilbert received his promotion through written testing and a competitive interview process. Gilbert is a fourteen-year veteran of the department.

Gilbert is a graduate of Southwood High School in Wabash. He also graduated from Indiana University in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. In June 1999, Gilbert graduated from the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and was assigned to the Indiana Toll Road. He later transferred to the Lowell District and worked Porter and LaPorte Counties. In 2005 Gilbert was assigned to work as a gaming investigator for ten months. He then returned back to the Lowell District and was assigned again to work Porter and LaPorte Counties. In 2008, Gilbert was assigned to the Methamphetamine Suppression Section for the Lowell/Bremen Districts before being promoted in 2010 to Sergeant to serve in the Laboratory Division Area 1 as a Crime Scene Investigator.

First Sergeant Gilbert has served as a Field Training Officer. Crash Reconstructionist and on the Clandestine Laboratory Entry Team.

As First Sergeant to serve as the Field Support North Region Supervisor Gilbert will supervise all Crime Scene Investigators and Evidence Clerks in Area 1 and 2 which comprise of Lowell, Lafayette, Peru, Toll Road, Fort Wayne and Bremen Districts.

Gilbert resides in Porter County with his family.
