Kringle Brings a Little Dash of Jingle to Dyer Nursing and Rehabilitation

Kelly Petty, Regional Director stated every year Dyer Nursing hosts a spectacular event for our residents and their families to enjoy. I always love the participation of our staff, residents and their families as we spread Christmas cheer throughout the entire facility. Dyer nursing has been a true staple in the community for over 30 years. This is just one of the many great events that Dyer hosts throughout the year!

Santa visited the Center Saturday morning to have breakfast with their residents and families. The annual “Breakfast with Santa” is a festive morning that includes ornament decorating, breakfast, and pictures with Santa Clause.

Megan Bishop, Regional Director of Business Bevelopment Sheffield Manor Assisted Living, likes the idea of bringing the community together and for residents to interact with all of the families.

“We’re very thankful for our team and our residents to open up the house to the community and the children to see Santa,” said Bishop. “Having the children here provides a lot of joy and comfort for seniors. It’s great for our seniors to give back to the community and to open up their home.”

Bishop said they have a breakfast with Santa every year to ring in the holiday spirit.

“The holidays bring a lot of joy to the residents and to our staff members,” said Bishop. “It’s a collaborative effort to bring the Christmas spirit to the community of Dyer.”

Director of Business Development Christina Doege said the breakfast is a great way to have everyone come together.

“Some residents here get extra help from some of the other family members that come in. They help include them as a part of the family,” said Doege. “As [Dyer Nursing and Rehabilitation’s] managerial staff, we try to do that for our residents. When they don’t have family, we want them to feel special during the holidays.”

Doege’s family also came out to visit Santa and make ornaments for the family tree.

“My kids are currently getting down and dirty making the ornaments,” laughed Doege. ”My little one, who just turned two, has sparkles all over her hands.”

The morning brought smiles to residents as kids told Santa what they wanted for Christmas. They promised they had been good all year, while their parents laughed and captured the moment.

With the morning being a joyful success, Doege is planning on opening their “Breakfast with Santa” to a lot of the public next year. They hope to include more members of the Dyer community to share the joy and holiday cheer of Christmas.
