Registration Now Open for Discover Wildlife Summer Camp

Humane-Society-Calumet-AreaFoxes, owls, and turtles, OH MY! Registration for Moraine Ridge Wildlife’s Discover Wildlife Camp is now open. Children ages 7 to 12 years old will learn about the lives and lifestyles of native animals that call Indiana home.

Discover Wildlife Camp is a five-day camp that provides a fun, safe, hands-on environment for kids. Campers learn about the various aspects of native Indiana wildlife, helping them to build a sense of respect and responsibility for animals. Three sessions will be held throughout the summer: June 12 through 16, July 10 through 14, and July 31 through August 4. Camp takes place each day at Moraine Ridge Wildlife Education Center, 570 N 450 E, Valparaiso, Ind.

Each camp session is unique and will feature a new topic. Camps are held 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day. Campers are required to bring a lunch. Campers will do a daily craft, take hikes, enjoy a snack, and have interactive presentations about animals.

The registration fee is $150 per camper per session. Camp size is limited.

About Moraine Ridge Wildlife Rehabilitation Center
MRWRC was founded in 1997 by a group of wildlife rehabilitators and enthusiasts. Its primary mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and return orphaned and injured wildlife to the wild. In addition, the center provides educational opportunities for the community that promote informed and humane interaction with native wildlife. In 2014, MRWRC partnered with Humane Society Calumet Area, which allowed the center to substantially expand the scope of its mission and delivery of its services. In 2016, MRWRC admitted 1,403 injured and orphaned native wildlife.
