Big Congratulations to Merrillville High School Thespian Troupe Competes

Big-Congratulations-to-Merrillville-High-School-Thespian-Troupe-Competes-2018High school theatre programs from across central Indiana competed this past weekend with short theatre pieces lasting no longer than 40 minutes. One performance from each participating school was judged leading to the awarding of first and second place trophies at the awards ceremony of the festival.

The Thespian Troupe at Merrillville High School did compete for the first time ever in the Indianapolis High School Fringe Festival this weekend (November 2, 3, and 4th). They brought a very powerful play called Drift by Dennis Bush to this competition. Drift is set among the shadows of the bright lights of New York City’s theatre district. Nine homeless people search for hope and meaning. They’re not movers and shakers, they just get moved and shaken. In a world that’s been turned upside down, they find poetry and pain, with no pity and no shame.

The MHS Thespians went against 7 of the top theatre programs in the state and were awarded Best Ensemble!
