St. Mary’s Students Enjoy Week of Celebration: Catholic Schools Week 2018

St-Marys-Students-Enjoy-Week-of-Celebration-Catholic-Schools-Week-2018Students all over the country joined in celebrating National Catholic Schools Week from Sunday January 28th, to February 3rd. Students at St. Mary Catholic Community School in Crown Point enjoyed a week full of community service, prayer, and fun. Students put together and delivered cookies around the community as a “thank you” to those who support Catholic education. Students also made care packages for local nuns and priests. One highlight of the week was praying the rosary as a school, led by the first and second grade classes. Students also enjoyed Olympic themed games, a no homework day, dress down days, and a spirit wear day.

The week also included a student vs staff volleyball game. Keeping with the SMS tradition, the 8th grade class was inspired to take on the teachers and staff. The game is one highlight of both Catholic Schools Week and the 8th graders final year at SMS. This year’s game was close, but in the end the teachers pulled ahead and defeated the 8th graders. The game was filled with many exciting moments! The week was capped off with a treat for the parents, Celebration of Gifts. The gala was filled with dinner and dancing.
