In December 2014 Dale J. Melczek, Bishop Emeritus of Gary established a new endowment fund to benefit Andrean High School students. Entitled the Bishop Dale J. Melczek Fund for A High School, the endowment is initially being funded with $30,000 from Bishop Melczek's personal savings. The fund will directly benefit future Andrean students through a scholarship.
Andrean President, Harry Vande Velde, says “Bishop Dale J. Melczek’s generosity and spirit knows no bounds. We are proud to call him a 59er for life.”
The entire Andrean Family would also like to extend their thanks to Bishop Melczek for his gracious gift and for providing an exemplary model of Catholic giving. Bishop Melczek will always have a place in the Andrean family’s heart and we are always grateful for his leadership in the Diocese of Gary.
