Calumet College of St. Joseph Announces 2014 Commencement

rot4Calumet College of St. Joseph will hold commencement services on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at noon at the Dennis and Leslie Rittenmeyer Center on the Calumet College of St. Joseph campus, 2400 New York Avenue in Hammond. Commencement will be preceded by a Baccalaureate Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1849 Lincoln Avenue. This year, the College will graduate 376 including 83 from the master’s degree programs, 286 from the baccalaureate degree programs, and seven from the associate degree programs.

An honorary degree will be bestowed upon Mr. William Nangle, Executive Editor of the Times of Northwest Indiana. Mr. Nangle efforts have established the Times of Northwest Indiana as a leader in promoting open, transparent, and honest government. He has demonstrated effective leadership in promoting a much needed regional perspective on a broad range of public policy issues and mentored a generation of journalists in Northwest Indiana and beyond. Mr. Nangle has also been selected as a member of the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame.

Valedictorian of the Class of 2014 is Rebecca Dill of Chicago Heights, Illinois. Miss Dill achieved a 4.00 cumulative grade point average and earned a Bachelor’s degree in General Science – Exercise Sports Science Concentration, Summa cum Laude. She was also named a 2013-14 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete for Women’s Basketball.
