Challenger Learning Center and Calumet Council Team Up to Offer Scouts a Day of STEM!

“NOVA” event first of its kind in NWI

Challenger-Learning-CenterThe Challenger Learning Center of Northwest Indiana will welcome nearly 100 Calumet Council Cub Scouts on Saturday, March 22. The Scouts will work to complete their NOVA patch requirements as well as other pins and belt loops related to STEM – science, technology, engineering and math. Staff members from both organizations have worked together to create a full day of hands-on activities and informational sessions in which Scouts can explore multiple concepts and earn their Scout academic awards related to the exciting world of STEM.

“We’re thrilled to be working with the Scouts in such a large, impactful way,” said Sue Petersen, Lead Flight Director for Informal Programs at the Challenger Learning Center.

“Our team is all about encouraging and inspiring the scientists, engineers and astronauts of the future. We’re proud to have a strong partnership with Calumet Council of Boy Scouts and look forward to reaching such a large number of Scouts in a single, intensive session,” said Peterson.

Registration is required for the event, but the Calumet Council may be sponsoring additional events in the future. For more information, contact the Council at 219-836-1720.
