SGMP Regional Education Conference Coming to South Shore

SGMPConference to be hosted at Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza Nov 6-7

The Society of Government Meeting Professionals will be hosting their inaugural event, Forging Connections and Building Relationships Regional Education Conference, at Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza Nov. 6 and 7.

According to SGMP Crossroads of America Chapter President Kimberly Hinds, members from Region 3 and Region 4, covering Chicago and Illinois, Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana, will be attending the conference.

Hinds stated the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza’s convenient location was a key factor in selecting the location for their inaugural event.

No one had to travel more than four hours,” said Hinds.

The conference will include multiple educational programs such as Beating the Meeting Planner Burnout with Instructional Coach Jokima Hiller; Why Hotels Say No to Business with Ted Miller, CHME, CHSP, CGMP; Bringing the Government Meeting Planner Picture into Focus with Sandi Lynn & Associates CEO Sandi Lynn, CMP; and CGMP – What Does It Mean for Me with Marlene Lu, CGMP.

Keynote speaker for the conference will be Melody Kebe, CMP, CGMP. Kebe, the national immediate past president, will be covering Challenges or Opportunities: What’s Your Story?

Hinds explained that the conference offers great educational information as well as networking opportunities and resources.

We’ve had some excellent sponsors including the South Shore CVA, Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza, and government agencies,” said Hinds. Sponsoring government agencies include the Indiana Department of Administration and the Indiana Department of Transportation. Hinds said she is excited about the amount of support received for this inaugural event.

The Society of Government Meeting Professionals Crossroads of America chapter is a non-profit professional organization of people involved with planning government meetings and those individuals who supply services to government planners.
