Spring Mill, Sebo’s, and Lincolnshire Health Campuses Show Appreciation to Social Workers

Spring Mill Health Campus held its first spa event to give thanks to social workers on Thursday. March is National Professional Social Worker’s Month and the staff at Spring Mill showed their appreciation in a pampering way.

Regional Director of Business Development Kelly Petty said the event honors all social workers who give their all every day they step into their office's doors.

“We want to celebrate and embrace the month of social workers. We wanted to get everyone together and show them how much we appreciate their services and what they do for us, the community and the patients they work with,” said Petty.

The evening included manicures, pedicures, massages and refreshments. Social workers from local hospitals, partnering agencies, and area assisted living communities came out for an evening of pampering.

“Social workers do a lot. They are who everyone goes to when they need help. They are such advocates for patients and their families, and we want to show how wonderful they are. This is the first time we have hosted this, so it’s great to see those from local hospitals come out to tonight’s event,” said Petty. “Everyone is getting pampered right before Easter, so it works out perfectly.”

Director of Case Management at Vibra Hospital Colleen O’Connor said it’s important to celebrate the annual Social Worker’s Month.

“We work so hard as advocates for patients and families and we want the best outcome for them. Our job is very stressful, and can be emotionally taxing. It’s nice to be appreciated for the work that we do. Social workers do a lot of great things and I think it’s very important to honor them,” said O’Connor.

Director of Social Services at Spring Mill Rachel Tegtman said she came out to support her fellow colleagues.

“I help people get home and succeed at home. I want to help that transition run as smoothly as possible. I do a lot for people and what services they need. I want to help those get local services. Some people may not know they can get these close services in the community,” said Tegtman.

Social work is not an easy profession and it takes notable people to do the work these professionals do on a daily basis. Everyday the nations 650,000 social workers act as advocates and leaders who make our society a better place to dwell in. March is all about turning the spotlight on this profession, and its endless contribution to society.
