Nina-Johnson Nina Johnson, the community outreach coordinator for Marram Health Center, is a Gary native that has lived in the the city for most of her lifetime. Nina attended schooling at the University of Wisconsin, has a Child Development Associate Credential, and has over 15 years of professional experience in social services.

As the community outreach coordinator, Nina works with her staff to make sure appropriate services are delivered to those in need.

“As the community outreach coordinator, I make sure that people have access to quality care in Northwest Indiana. I work with the staff to make sure that we deliver the services that people may need. We service everyone, but we really have emphasis on the homeless population. We visit various locations, deliver fliers, talk to people, and ultimately try to think of innovative ways to get the word out that we are here to help,” said Nina.

Marram Health Center is committed to enhancing the quality of life in the community by providing pediatric care to adult medical services, regardless of their ability to pay. Marram Health Center is all about working together as a team with the staff, doctors, and specialists to provide the best healthcare possible.

However, in some cases Marram is ‘more than healthcare,’ especially with new programs that have emerged.

“We also have a case manager here, and her name is Lynn Threatt, and she sets people up with services from housing, disability, social security, education, employment, and court system help… we try to meet people’s needs no matter what that may be. We also partner with other agencies and we develop a relationship with them. We do that, so if there is something that a client may need, we will work together with the other agencies to help people the best way we can as a community.”

Nina’s favorite part about working as the community outreach coordinator for Marram Health Center is helping the people in the community.

“My favorite part is helping people and looking out for their health and wellness. I try to make people aware of how important it is too see a doctor regularly, and not just when they get sick. I ultimately want to make sure that people are aware that they have access to healthcare at Marram Health Center,” said Nina.

Nina’s favorite part about working for Marram Health Center is the way that the company, and its partners, work together as a team to help those in need.

“As a company, I like that we are able to work together as a team. This is the best place for care and the best place to work because we all work so close, but at the same time we make sure that people receive the services they need. So we work together as a family and as a team. We are all here for the same thing… to make sure people get health care, dental care, and the medical services that they need. We also help people if they need a job, if they need a place to stay, if they have a bill that they can’t pay for, which is where our partnerships come in and help us and work with us as a team.”

Outside of her work, Nina enjoys relaxing, taking time to be with her family, being with her friends, going to the movies, and attending church at New Revelation Baptist Church.
