Crossroads Chamber of Commerce Celebrates Members at 2016 Appreciation Reception

On Wednesday, the Crossroads Regional Chamber of Commerce held their annual Membership Appreciation Reception where they invited Chamber members to their offices to celebrate and honor their continued support. Members enjoyed food, drinks and prizes, and got a chance to meet with other Chamber members and staff who were all on hand to celebrate the evening's festivities.

“September is Membership Appreciation Month so we try to do some special things like the gift giveaways,” said Crossroads Chamber Member Director, Jane Powers.

“We call all of our members this month just to check in on them,” Powers said. “The Ambassadors help out alot with that. Our members do so much work year-round promoting their business so it’s just a nice evening for our members to relax and for us to show them some hospitality.”

The Crossroads Chamber of Commerce has about 700 members and the organization works to serve their region by promoting and advocating for business growth.

“This is our annual member appreciation event and we do it every September,” said Sue Reed, President and CEO of the Crossroads Chamber of Commerce. “Today is our opportunity to thank our members for all of the support that they provide us throughout the year.”

“We reach out to our members all month with phone calls, thanking them for being a member. Yesterday at our luncheon we handed out gifts and tonight we have our reception, and we’re handing out gifts here as well to members who weren’t able to make it to lunch.”

Reed also spoke about the future and some of the upcoming events that the Chamber is looking forward to.

“The future looks good!” said Reed. “We have some really good events coming up. We have our Gala on November 19th and that’s when we actually give thanks to the community that we’re doing business in. We do awards for Fireman of the Year in Merrillville and Crown Point, Policeman of the Year for Merrillville and Crown Point, Inspiring Educator and we make a financial donation to the Education Foundations for Merrillville and Crown Point School Corporations.”

Attending the evening’s celebration of Chamber members was Karen Lauerman from the Lake County Economic Alliance, who works closely to grow the Region and create a healthy climate in which businesses can flourish.

“The Crossroads Chamber was a founding member of the Lake County Economic Alliance,” Lauerman said of the Chambers dedication to business growth in the area. “They believe in economic development and our activities and efforts so much that they currently house the LCEA within their footprint.”

“They’re very proud as we are proud to be in partnership with them in their primary areas of Crown Point and Merrillville, but we know their outreach is far stretching into other counties which is truly important to attracting and expanding businesses,” Lauerman said. “The Chamber is integral in small development and the cultivation of business relationships. The Crossroads Chamber and their members give us a distinct selling point when it comes to quality of life, neighborhood retail experience and the kind of customer service and values that attract business to this area.”
