This year, Porter is pleased to announce Dana Masty, R.N., as the 2016 Patient Choice Award winner.

Masty has been a nurse at Porter Regional Hospital for 40 years, with the last 30 in the Emergency Department. She was honored to be named this year’s recipient. “I’m just in complete shock,” shared Masty. “I didn’t see this coming. I just love my job and can’t imagine doing anything else. There are many nurses here who deserve this recognition because they are all so good to their patients.”

I met her when she was my nurse at the old Porter Hospital location on Laporte Avenue,” wrote the patient who nominated Masty and remembers the comfort she gave him years ago. “I feel that ER nurses never get enough recognition for the long hours that they put in at Porter Regional Hospital.”
