St. Mary Medical Center awarded Dee Bedella, of Hobart, as the STAR Employee of the Year at their 43rd Annual Service Awards Dinner on May 13. Nearly 300 employees and guests came together to celebrate the employee of the year and other staff recognized for their years of service to the hospital.
“I am honored to be able to celebrate the dedication and talent of our incredible staff,” said Janice Ryba, hospital CEO. “So many of our employees give generously of their time and resources to improve the lives around them. They set a strong example and their commitment to the health and well-being of our community is truly extraordinary.”
The STAR Employee of the Year is selected from the twelve STAR Employees of the Month honored throughout the year, determined through votes from hospital employees. Bedella, the hospital’s Patient Advocate, was recognized for her commitment to improving the patient experience, her compassionate attitude and her empathy for patients and their families. She was described as a true team player, accepting ownership and accountability for her role.
