RDA Vice-Chairman Harley Snyder Chooses Not to Seek Reappointment

harley-snyderNorthwest Indiana Regional Development Authority Board of Directors Vice-Chairman Harley Snyder has informed Chairman Don Fesko that he is withdrawing his name from consideration for reappointment to the Board.

"I have been informed today that Harley Snyder will not be seeking reappointment to the RDA Board of Directors," Fesko said in a statement. "Harley has indicated to me that he would like to provide an opportunity for a new individual to contribute to our regional progress."

In a letter to the Governor, Harley wrote that he was "extremely proud of the accomplishments of the RDA and my participation in those efforts. That being said, I believe the work of the RDA has just begun...Given the time and effort these other projects will require, and my ten years of service on the RDA Governing Board, I believe it may be in the interest of the people of Northwest Indiana and the RDA to have a younger person do the 'heavy lifting.' Whomever you select as my replacement, their efforts and abilities will be greatly enhanced by the very experienced and competent staff of the RDA led by our outstanding President Bill Hanna and the Board of Directors."

"Harley is a founding member and has served honorably for over a decade. In that time Harley has played a valuable role in the securing of funds for the extension of the South Shore West Lake corridor, completing the runway extension at the Gary/Chicago International Airport and the rebuilding of the shoreline of Lake Michigan," Fesko added.

Harley has agreed to continue to serve on the Board until such time as Governor Mike Pence appoints a replacement.
