StoryPoint held a networking event at the Sand Creek Country Club Thursday night to spread the word of their community expansion, allowing seniors to live safely, care-free and vibrantly on their own. StoryPoint is a new, independent senior living community that will open in Chesterton this summer.
Business Development Specialist Judy Kukelka said the company has been around for 35 years, while they are new to Northwest Indiana. She said the senior living community is a wonderful addition to the beautiful community of Chesterton.
“We want to capture the audience with an attractive atmosphere. We have great amenities, a culinary program that is like no other, and we offer that independent peace that residents want to move to,” said Kukelka. “We capture the beautiful community seniors are looking for now.”
StoryPoint apartments will have kitchens and appliances, spacious closets, tubs or walk-in showers with grab bars and open-floor plans. Community features will include a salon, bistro, library, media and recreation areas, laundry facilities, courtyards and carports.
Kukelka said it’s important to network and to spread the word of StoryPoint’s expansion.
“We have to stay in front of people in the community and it’s important to stay in front of those that are the decision makers. We want to reach out to neighbors who might be looking for a service like this. Independent living is a fairly new concept to the area, so we want to make sure future residents have as much information on StoryPoint,” said Kukela.
McColly Real Estate Agent Milenda Simerlein said it’s great to have this facility in her hometown.
“We have a lot of baby boomers who are down-sizing,” said Simerlein. “They don’t want any maintenance. People want to live on their own and be close to families. The idea of being maintenance-free is attractive; they don't have to do lawn work or snow removal. It allows them to have a simpler life.”
Community Liaison for VNA Hospice in Michigan City Michelle Payne said she enjoys gatherings and events to spread the importance of these communities.
“My parents are in the older generation and I fear for their safety. It’s unsafe for them to be by themselves. It’s nice to have places like StoryPoint that helps with safety, while giving them their independence. That’s a win-win,” said Payne.
StoryPoint has 162 units- 120 independent living units and 42 enhanced independent living units. They strive to continuously live by their motto, as a "champion for seniors and their loved ones." See more about StoryPoint by visiting https://www.storypoint.com/community/chesterton-in/
