Crossroads Regional Chamber of Commerce Announces Merger with Winfield Chamber

On Tuesday, May 10th, the Crossroads Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors announced that they will be merging with the nearby Winfield/Lakes of the Four Seasons Chamber of Commerce. The announcement was made at the Board of Directors annual meeting.

In light of the changes that will take place, a task force has been formed and is working on the details of bringing the two organizations together with an effective date of July 1, 2016.

President of the Board of Directors for the Winfield Chamber will be a guest at the Crossroads Chamber of Commerce’s May membership luncheon and will provide a short presentation featuring details about the merger.

“We’re in the process of merging now,” said Crossroads Chamber President and CEO, Sue Reed. “The task force is in place and we’re ironing out the details of the merger with the goal of being official on July 1st.”

“We were approached by the President of the Winfield Chamber’s Board of Directors,” said Reed when speaking about what led to the merger. “They are volunteer led organization and don’t have a full time staff except for one person, who was going to be moving on. They were at a point where merging with us made better sense. Winfield has a Crown Point zip code and a lot of the students funnel through Crown Point High School who we represent already.”

“It’s just a really good fit,” Reed said. “It will grow our Chamber by 80 members and it will give our current members a new group with which to network. They also have a great scholarship program. We’re going to keep that in place but expand it to include Merrillville kids as well.”
