Paint the Town Purple
Help the American Cancer Society "Paint the Town Purple" in support of Duneland Relay for Life. Join in the celebration by decorating your windows and businesses in purple from June 16 thru June 30. The community will have purple banners displayed and purple bows on town light poles along with Relay for Life signs posted throughout the community. Chesterton Art Center ARTour This Saturday!
The Chesterton Art Center will be sponsoring ARTour this Saturday in downtown Chesterton from 11-2. A number of stores will host working artists showcasing their process and their products. Maps and a directory of artists can be found at the Chesterton Art Center or at any of the participating shops. A free adult drawing class will be offered for adults at noon at the Art Center. Duneland Family YMCA Poppin' Popcorn Fundraiser! Now Through July 3
The Duneland Family YMCA will be selling gourmet popcorn in resealable half gallon bags. Choose from ten delicious flavors: Buttery Caramel, Cheesy Cheddar, Peanut Caramel, Cheddar Jalapeno, Chicago Style, Cinnamon Toast, Movie Theater Butter, Kettle Corn, Fruit Rainbow and White Cheddar. Proceeds from the fundraiser will generate resources for the Y's Scholarship Fund that provides Y services to those in need. Scholarships are used by families for the Y's Early Childhood Development Program, summer day camp, swimming lessons, infant childcare and membership for families who would be able to benefit from YMCA services. In conjunction with the Family 4th Fest on the 4th of July, Hawthorne Park, 500 Ackerman Drive, Porter. Porter Regional Hospital Presents "Pink at Portage" Saturday, July 19 @ 7:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Porter Health Care System will host "Pink at Portage" from 7 am to noon on Saturday, July 19 in the Women's Center at Portage Hospital, located at 3630 Willowcreek Road in Portage. "Pink at Portage" offers women mammography screenings and a complimentary brunch one Saturday a month. To participate in Pink at Portage, a woman must be age 40 or older and know the date of their last mammogram. Insurance will be charged and only covers one mammogram annually. Chesterton High School Corporate Sponsorship Needed!
Corporate sponsorship needed for our annual Homecoming Playhouses charity event. This fall, CHS will once again auction 5 playhouses for charity on eBay at the culmination of our homecoming festivities. These playhouses are built and designed by CHS students in our building trades program. Over the past two years we have raised more than $4,000 for charity. Sponsorship is $600 to cover the cost of building materials.
