Your Spring Car Maintenance Schedule

Auto-mechanic-replacing-car-batteryThe weather is getting warmer, and while we hope you winterized your car before the first cold snap, you might be wondering what your spring car maintenance schedule should be. There's not a strict regimen that you should abide by like with your winter car maintenance schedule, but there are some things you can do to make sure your car successfully transitions into the warmer weather and serves you well until next winter—and the Lake Shore Toyota service center is here to let you know your proper maintenance schedule.

Our Checklist
One of the most important things you should know about auto service is that you can always save when you bring your car to Lake Shore Toyota—we have regular service specials that can cover some of the most important elements on your spring maintenance schedule.

Whether you do your own auto maintenance or bring it to our service center, you should make sure these services are performed:

  • Check the Battery: If there is one part of your car that takes the brunt of damage during the winter, the battery is it. Even if your car seems to be starting alright, you should check to make sure your battery is in good shape so that the first cold snap next winter doesn't kill it.
  • Check Your Brakes: Winter driving is particularly rough on brakes, and the salt and snow can cause corrosion to take hold if you aren't careful. Have your brakes inspected, especially if you notice pulling, grinding, or squeaking.
  • Inspect Your Tires: It's important to make sure your tires are good going into winter, but you should check the treat depth and overall wear coming out of the cold months too. Also be sure to inflate them to the right PSI, as cold temps can drop your tire pressure. • Check Belts and Hoses: Belts and hoses are made of rubber that can crack and break during the cold months, and the last thing you want is a snapped belt or a leaking hose when the weather warms up.
