The 6th Annual Shamrock Shootout was a Fun Day, Sunday

The 6th Annual Shamrock Shootout was a fun day for tournament bowlers, families, and friends on Sunday. Held at the Inman’s Bowling & Recreation Center in Valparaiso, Hannah’s Hope brought the community together once again for an action-packed day.

The Founder of Hannah’s Hope, Mike Martinez, gave insight into how this year’s event was different from the past ones.

“We expanded what we’re doing this year, as we sold out last year and came very close to selling out on both sessions this year,” Martinez said. “We have our tournament bowling in the morning and our family fun bowling in the afternoon. There are going to be two groups of completely different people coming in.”

Whether a professional bowler or amatuer, experience did not matter. Everyone was laughing, enjoying each other’s’ company, and most importantly supporting a wonderful cause. The money raised went directly to Hannah’s Hope, a nonprofit organization providing developmental equipment to kids with special needs and making communities more accessible. The event itself was also designed so that anyone could be a part of it.

“Our family fun bowling allows kids of all abilities to come and participate if they wanted to,” Martinez added.

Kids were even able to learn some important tips and life lessons from some of the more experienced bowlers. One tournament bowler, Brian Beach, fell in love with bowling over 30 years ago. He shared his secret to success in bowling and life.

“When you don’t bowl good you might get a little upset, but you learn restraint as you get older,” Beach said. “Being part of a team, it’s a part of life.”

The Event Coordinator & Secretary of Hannah’s Hope Board, Joe Hall, described how vital the community is to this non-profit organization.

“It gives our community an opportunity to see all of the people of Hannah’s Hope,” Hall said. “Without the community and sponsors contributing, we would not be able to achieve everything that we’re able to do for the families that really need our help.”

The 1st place bowling tournament winner, Randy Wilkening, shared what really made his day, besides winning.

“It is a wonderful organization and they’re great people,” Wilkening said. “They do so much for the community and I am so happy to help.”

Some of the sponsors of the Shamrock Shootout were: Simko Signs, Employees of Urschel Labs, The Kovanda Family, D&C Barbershop, Bam Pizza Company, Valparaiso #2517 and Industrial Maintenance Welding & Machining Company. The people behind Hannah’s Hope thanked the community and all of the sponsors for their wonderful help and contributions. Everyone that day won for supporting a magnificent cause.
