We're not FOOLIN' around when we say we have some great events this weekend. Now that the weather is a little friendlier, there are plenty of fun events to put you in the Springtime mood. In East Chicago, the I am HOPE Benefit Concert is sure to put a little hop in your step and in Valparaiso, the Independent Cat Society won't be playing a trick on you with their April Fool's Egg Hunt!  There are these and more fun events in this week's 10 Fun Things to do this Weekend in Northwest Indiana!

Westville United Methodist Church Fish Fry
The Friday Night Fish Fry crew of the Westville United Methodist Church is back by popular demand serving their Friday night Fish Fries during the Lenten Season. Dinner includes your choice of Fried or Baked Pollack or Shrimp, or Fish/Shrimp Combo, Chicken Strips; French Fries or Baked Potato, coleslaw, or vegetable or apple sauce; bread and drink.

Party in Peace, I am HOPE Benefit Concert
In honor of those impacted by and the lives lost to bullying, The Party In Peace, I am HOPE Benefit Concert is here to give back to the community through a night of peace and hope. The concert on Friday features presents Grammy, Dove, and Stellar award-winning artists Tye Tribbett and Israel Houghton and will be hosted by East Chicago High School.

Wild Women and Wine set for Barker Mansion
The public is invited to celebrate Women’s History Month at the Barker Mansion on Friday. A new program, Wild Women and Wine, will highlight the unconventional women who have shaped Northwest Indiana history through the decades.  $25 ticket includes two glasses of wine, refreshments, a tour and the program. This is a 21+ event.

5th Annual Spring Jam Shopping Expo Vendor & Craft Show
The 5th Annual Spring Jam Shopping Expo is raising funds for Lady Region Elite, a local girls basketball team. Free Gift Bag to 1st 50 shoppers! Event is open to the public. A few of the vendors include: Adult Bibby Company, AJ Specialties Inc. Ann Bath & Beauty Boutique, Classy Clips, It Works, and many more!

City of Hammond Garage Sale
Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. and Hammond Parks & Recreation are pleased to bring you the first Indoor Garage Sale of the spring on Saturday from 10am until 3pm at the Jean Shepherd Community Center,. Come and turn an unwanted treasure into a prized possession!

Independent Cat Society April Fools Egg Hunt
Bring the family down to Rogers Lakewood Park for some fun! The Independent Cat Society will have over 500 eggs to find and some special ones with special prizes inside! They will also have some baked goods, snacks and lots of ICS merchandise and cat toys for sale.

KALEIDOSCOPE: A Modern-Contemporary Dance Concert

Portage Community Historical Society 2017 Season Opening
Come visit the museum in Portage Community Historical Society's new location in "the big red barn" to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Portage Little League field.

Duneland Woodcarvers 41st Annual Woodcarving Show
There will be carving exhibitors, demonstrations, supplies for sale, wood-working, prizes, and food. Admission is $5.00. Children under 17 are free when accompanied by an adult. The show is produced in cooperation with Portage Parks! 

Jewish Film Festival
Inspiring films will be offered by the library in collaboration with the Purdue University North Central Odyssey Art Series and the Irving Levin Jewish Cultural Fund of Sinai Temple.
