Munster Brothers Hit The Baseball Field Together For Sectionals

Munster senior Connor Manous has played hundreds of baseball games in his life. He has traveled across the country with dozens of teammates. But he always wanted to stand next to one person in the dugout.

His little brother, Garrett.

This year, they teamed up. The Manous brothers have helped lead the Mustangs to a 16-8 (9-3 NCC) record. Connor, who committed to the University of Miami before his junior year, serves as the staff ace. Garrett, a freshman, plays center field and is a key cog in Munster’s powerful lineup. The brothers are preparing for a postseason run.

“We are just trying to play our best baseball at the end of the year,” Connor said. “Garrett and I are very competitive with each other, but we are really close to each other.”

Ask Garrett about his big brother, and his eyes light up with pride.

“Playing with him is an honor,” Garrett said. “Watching him play and seeing what it takes to become a skilled athlete has made me want to be like him.”

Connor sought out “The U” while playing for an elite Prairie Gravel travel team. Munster may be over 20 hours away from Miami, but he saw a second home in Hurricane country.

“I can’t wait to play in the big games and make new friends,” Connor said. “I will enjoy the city and have warm weather almost every day.”

Garrett says he will feel emotional when Connor packs his bags for college.

“When he leaves, it will be a sad day for me,” Garrett said. “He’s not only my brother, he’s my best friend. He is my idol.”

They will take their home field to face the Highland Trojans in Sectionals on Friday, May 27. The last leg of their first and final season together will commence.
