The McColly Real Estate New Homes Division held a ribbon cutting to recognize the grand opening of phase two of the Brookstone North Condos on Tuesday, May 14.
Milton Petersen, the developer of the Brookstone Condos, shares how this is a unique spot for the people of Merrillville that are looking to own a residence.
“This condominium development is placed at an affordable price point for Lake County, starting at $249,000,” Petersen said. “There aren’t any other new construction projects like this in the county at the moment.”
Petersen notes that this project has been in the works for multiple years and has overcome several roadblocks along the way.
“It’s been a period of more than three years,” Petersen said. “The first year was spent in design with architects and engineers before getting into construction. There was a delay on materials due to the pandemic and the pricing changed. We worked our way through all of that and now we have finished units.”
A lot of conversations in preparing this condominium development were had to provide convenience for the residents.
“The key thing about this building is that it has 26 individual garages on the ground floor,” Petersen said. “When someone comes in, they don’t have to go outside to park and walk back in, a favorable feature- especially during the winter season.”
Sarah Schwertfeger and Erika Segrest, the McColly Real Estate brokers marketing and listing this project, have had a pleasure seeing everything come into fruition.
Schwertfeger envisions a strong impact coming from the project.

The project took a great deal of collaboration between various organizations working together. When the ribbon was cut, smiling faces controlled the scene as the project was officially launched. In addition to McColly Real Estate, the event had representatives from People’s Bank, Community Title Company and the Crossroads Chamber of Commerce.
